Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers allow you to have the youthful and natural looking smile you have always wanted. They are the ideal standard in state of the art cosmetic dentistry today. Porcelain veneers are the treatment of choice in creating perfect, natural smiles because of their effectiveness, aesthetic appeal and longevity. Porcelain veneers offer an approach for the treatment of gaps, overcrowded and narrow smiles, chipped or broken teeth by bonding wafer thin, semi-translucent 'shells' of porcelain over your existing teeth.

Porcelain veneers are wafer thin (0.3mm-1.0mm) shells of hand-made porcelain that are bonded to the surface of the tooth. They are beautiful, durable and strong – and the optical and physical properties of porcelain veneers are designed to mimic your natural teeth. Dr Oliver is one of the most highly regarded and experienced dental practitioners for porcelain veneers in the UK, and has helped thousands of people realise the aesthetic potential of their smile.

Why choose porcelain veneers over other dental veneers?

Dental Veneers can be created from a range of materials and techniques that can result in a wide variability in appearance, longevity, and bio-compatibility. While many options with fancy names claim to be better, the reality is that only hand-layered, glass porcelain veneers can produce stunning 3D optical aesthetic integration with natural teeth with a minimally-invasive approach. These veneers also have the most proven track records reported in dental research. Unlike industrially-produced alternatives, these require extensive and laborious attention to detail and a high level of artistic skill. Beautiful, natural aesthetics take time, care and a lot of love to create…nature doesn't take shortcuts!

What are the benefits and how do porcelain veneers work?

Porcelain veneers are used to treat a number of dental conditions and restore damaged or malformed teeth to ideal beauty and strength. Unlike many other procedures like crowns, porcelain veneers require very minimal tooth reduction (from as little as 3% compared with up to 75% for crowns).

Contrary to popular belief, when porcelain veneers are bonded to teeth, their strength is comparable to a natural, untouched tooth. When a meticulous approach is used, these dental porcelain veneers can last for many years and be imperceptible from an untouched tooth. Dr Oliver has many patients who have had their veneers for over 20 years.

Porcelain veneers take advantage of advances in material science and bonding technology and conform to the Biomimetic principle of dentistry, a cornerstone of our practice philosophy where procedures and materials are chosen based on their ability to preserve and protect natural teeth and mimic them in aesthetics and function. Steps to Your Perfect Smile

Smile Design

Stage One: Smile Design

First Dr Oliver will take a photograph of your existing teeth and carefully listen to what you are unhappy with and how you would like your smile to change. Then, using his clinical expertise, many years of experience and the latest imaging equipment, we design a simulation of your new tailor-made smile. This takes place at your initial consultation.

Smile Model

Stage Two: Smile Model

Your digital smile design is now transformed into a smile model to give you a detailed, 3-dimensional simulation of your new smile. You can study this from all angles to ensure that every detail is correct. Only when you are totally happy with the design do we proceed to the next stage.

Smile Prototypes

Stage Three: Smile Prototypes

At this stage Dr Oliver under local anaesthetic will carefully and precisely sculpt your teeth to the required design. He will then fit prototype (temporary) veneers to your teeth. These are an exact replica of the smile model.

This is your new smile in temporary form and is a dress rehearsal/ test drive of the smile before the final veneers are made.

This allows you to see the smile in your mouth and ask the opinion of friends and family and allow you to make changes if need be to the length, shape and size of the smile or each individual tooth.

This allows you to keep in control of the final design of your smile and gives you confidence that Dr Oliver is providing you with the smile you have always wanted.

When you are happy with the temporaries their design is then transformed to the actual making of your final smile.

Your Perfect Smile

Stage Four: Your Perfect Smile

Finally your perfect smile is ready for you, duplicating the planned design. The final porcelain restorations will be more life like/natural looking than the prototypes as they are made from the latest high-quality porcelain, and will have been hand-sculpted by our exclusive master craftsmen technicians in Italy,to make your smile perfect but natural at the same time. They will produce for you a perfect natural smile or a Hollywood smile following the design you have chosen. Now you can go out and show off your beautiful new smile!
